How To Assemble Your Ottoman Bed
Welcome to your dream bed setup! Assembling an ottoman bed is a straightforward process when you follow these instructions carefully. Take your time to unpack each component and familiarize yourself with all the accessories before beginning.
Tools Required: Spanners and Allen keys (all bolts and hardware are supplied).
Preparation & Safety Guidelines
Prepare Your Space:
Ensure you have adequate room space for assembly and final positioning. Clear the area completely and lay down protective material on the floor to prevent damage to your flooring.
Important Assembly Points:
- Workspace: Ensure you have a spacious, dry area for assembly
- Tools: Have all appropriate tools assembled and easily accessible
- Foundation: Ensure all legs make firm contact with the ground
- Power Tools: Do NOT use power tools as they may damage the product
- Assembly Order: Do not fully tighten screws until all parts are positioned
- Safety: Do not use the bed while installing the lifting mechanism
- Testing: Check all mechanisms operate properly before use
Step 1 - Fitting Chrome Feet/Castors
Simple push-fit installation: Push the chrome feet into each socket on the base unit. You'll need 4 chrome glides per base unit.
Ensure each foot is fully seated and secure before proceeding to the next step.
Step 2 - Connect Gas Pistons
Gas Piston Installation: Connect the gas pistons to both the lid hinge points and base hinge points using the supplied bolts. Gas pistons can be fitted either way round.
Optional Safety Gas Piston Lock: If supplied, fit the safety gas piston lock to the top hinge point. Ensure correct installation so it can lock the lids in the open position when accessing storage.
Note: The safety lock can be removed when the storage area is no longer being accessed.
Step 3 - Position the Ottoman Bed Base Units
Correct Positioning: Set the ottoman base units into their final position with rounded corners facing outward (as shown in the illustration).
Ensure both units are level and properly aligned before proceeding to the connection step.
Step 4 - Fit U-Clips Between Base Units
Securing the Bases: Slide the 2 U-clips into position to securely connect the two base units together.
Ensure the clips are fully engaged and the bases are firmly connected before proceeding.
Step 5 - Secure The Ottoman Bed Lids
Synchronised Lid Operation
Lid Connection: Using the supplied 100mm plastic-headed bolt, secure the lids together. This enables synchronized lifting of both lids and mattress as a single unit.
Ensure the bolt is properly tightened but do not over-tighten to avoid damage to the lid material.
Step 6A - Securing Headboard (End Lift Beds)
End Lift Headboard Installation
Locate Mounting Holes: Open the bed base and locate the headboard mounting holes. Look for position stickers that mark the correct locations.
Floor Standing Headboards: Use the short bolts to secure the headboard directly to the base.
Strut Headboards: Follow the same procedure if your headboard has wooden support struts.
Step 6B - Securing Headboard (Side Lift Beds)
Side Lift Headboard Installation
Locate Mounting Points: Prior to fitting, locate the holes on the base unit by running your fingers over the bolt hole positions. Position stickers should be visible.
Floor Standing Headboards: Secure the headboard using 4 x 100mm long bolts and position the spacers between the headboard and base units.
Strut Headboards: Repeat the above procedure for headboards with wooden struts.
Assembly Complete!
Congratulations! Your ottoman bed is now ready for use.
