What is the difference between side lift and end lift?
A side lift bed opens from the long side of the mattress and needs roughly 1 metre of clearance on that side. An end lift bed opens from the foot of the bed and needs the same clearance at the foot. Pick the one that suits your room layout — both give you the same hidden storage compartment underneath.
Can I keep my existing headboard?
Yes. The Ottoman Base Only option is built for exactly this — it fits all UK standard headboard fittings. Note that side lift bases need spacers between the headboard and base for the lift to clear properly.
How much weight can I store inside?
Storage platforms can hold up to 300kg per side, evenly spread. Choose the reinforced platform option for heavier storage needs and always keep weight distributed across the base.
What mattress should I pair with an ottoman bed?
Standard ottoman bases work with most quality UK mattresses up to around 125kg with the upgraded gas pistons. Choose a mattress that meets BS7177 fire safety standards. We recommend pocket sprung, memory foam or hybrid models in the matching UK size.
How long does delivery take?
Custom-built ottoman beds are made to order in the UK, typically dispatched in 4–6 weeks. Standard models ship faster. Contact us for the latest lead time on your chosen configuration.
What if the bed will not fit through my doorway?
Bases are pre-assembled but designed to fit standard UK access. Measure the narrowest doorway, stair turn and overhead clearance before ordering. If access is tight, our team can advise on configurations that break down for delivery.
